From our patients
For last 4 years, I have been experiencing increasing problem with heart beat. My heart was beating irregularly due to frequent extra systoles originating in the right ventricle. Over the last 8 months my symptoms (palpitations) have increased -especially during the last 2 months. By the moment I cannot do any physical activities without making the extra systoles go on in intensity for days and weeks often after every other or third beat. This is a terrible situation for me and also my family.
The spot (i.e. the site of origin of extra systoles) was supposed to be well available for intervention (catheter ablation), but I had already one tried one in my country. I spent 3 1/2 hours on the operation table. The procedure was described as partly successful, but according to me, there was no improvement. They wanted to try again, but I was sure the expertise is better in the Czech Republic since I studied there.
I had contacted the Department of Cardiology, IKEM in Prague and was told that it is possible to undergo the procedure there. I had to pre-plan about 3 days to stay at the hospital and to pay 90 per cent of the cost in advance. I must tell you – I felt so terribly bad because of my condition that I was willing to do anything and as quickly as possible to get over it – to get the chance!
Today, it is exactly one year after the procedure. And I just wanted to tell that the attempt was 100 per cent successful and now, I consider myself 100 per cent cured. I live a completely normal life now with my 3 children and my wife. I can do everything normally, I work out on treadmill, I bicycle with my children, and most important of all, I got rid of my palpitations that were mentally almost killing me.
